Business Analytics

Business Analytics is a category of Sift Insights. It provides users visibility into orders, chargebacks, account creation, and more to understand the impact of fraud. This category of Insights includes reporting on Payment Abuse and Account Abuse.

 

Payment Abuse

Available reports:

  • Orders Report: Total orders created over time, segmented by the current Decision applied to the order.
  • Orders by Account Status: Total orders created over time, segmented by the current Decision status of the user that placed the order.
  • Orders by Transaction Status: Total orders created over time, segmented by latest transaction status and type (e.g. authorizations, sales, refunds, voids, etc.)
  • Chargebacks by Date Received: Total chargebacks received over time by the date the first chargeback was received for the transaction, segmented by chargeback status and chargeback reason.
  • Chargebacks by Order Date: Total chargebacks received over time by the date the order was received, segmented by chargeback status and chargeback reason.

Sample questions that can be answered using these reports:

  • Is there an increase in orders placed?
  • What’s the chargeback rate per day?
  • Are chargebacks increasing or decreasing over time?
  • What is the breakdown between fraudulent and non-fraudulent chargebacks?
  • What percentage of orders are blocked for fraud?
  • What percentage of Decisions are made manually vs automatically?

Data we need from you to populate these reports:

  • Time
  • Create Order events (tip: send valid order amounts — no negatives, in micros, plus ISO currencies)
  • Transactions with Order ID, Type, Status, & Payment Method (tip: when you void a Transaction, send us the Order ID)
  • Chargebacks
  • Decisions

 

Account Abuse

Available reports:

  • Accounts Report: Total user accounts created over time, segmented by the user's current Decision.
  • Decisions Report: Total Decisions made over time, segmented by Decision source (e.g. manual review, automated Decisions, and Decisions automatically applied due to Chargeback events).

Sample questions that can be answered using these reports:

  • How many users are signing up per day?
  • Are user sign-ups growing/declining?
  • Is rate of bad users growing/declining?
  • How many new sign-ups are we blocking?
